The Secret to Break Every Chain!
I want to encourage you -
Don't stop until every chain holding you captive in your life is broken!
But you must know this -
The only chains you will ever break are the ones you hate!
I love signing the song, ‘Break Every Chain by Jesus Culture.’ (Words below) Why?
As the song says, “There is power in the name of Jesus…To break every chain, break every chain, break every chain!”
And I know what that feels like - so I know it’s true.
I am one of those believers who had a Pauline salvation with a powerful chain-breaking experience when Jesus invaded my life one night. Until then, I never realized how many chains had me in bondage until I experienced true freedom in so many areas. He did a major sovereign work that night, but that was not the end - I discovered later that the Lord left some chains holding me captive.
What a shock to realize I still had addictive bondages to things such as alcohol (a Kelly family curse), smoking, and gluttony. Jesus showed me that I was going to have to face and break these chains. As I prayed and read the Word, in about 3 months after I was saved, I was able to pour all the booze in the house down the sink! Another chain fell off, but smoking was hanging on tight.
I must have tried least a hundred times over a three-year period to stop smoking until I finally got the victory - and that bondage chain also finally broke. But I continued to struggle for over 20 years with my weight. It went up and down like a rollercoaster. I lost a ton of weight, but it kept sneaking back until I had a major betrayal in my ministry and I gave up all effort to lose it.
The bottom line was my unforgiveness. To cover the pain and medicate myself - I began eating myself almost to death, all because of unforgiveness! Like Act 8:23 says, “For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity.”
Then I got a hold of that chain through repenting, prayer, and truly forgiving. I lost 150 pounds quickly and my health improved tremendously. With the weight of sin and the weight of flesh off my life, I felt 100% better.
Now here’s the secret sauce to breaking any and all bondage chains in your life -
1. You must hate the bondage chain - because God hates it. You know He hates sin!
2. You must identify your bondage chain as your Sin!
3. You must sincerely repent - followed by necessary actions such as going to people and forgiving them, if the Holy Spirit tells you.
Remember, God gives forgiveness as well as mercy and grace. He is not demanding your perfection, but He is there to help your efforts and hear your cries in your times of trouble!
Don’t let pride or embarrassment stop you from asking God to help you. He knows all about it. He wants to help you break the chains!
The Only thing God wants us bound to is to give thanks to him for all He has done for us and for those who believe in him. “We are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Thess. 2:13-14).
I strongly encourage you to be honest,
don’t avoid what’s plaguing you,
have Faith and let God help you break free of every bondage chain in your life!
